Marjorie Taylor Evans, 96, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Born April 8, 1927 in Germantown, PA and raised in Cashville, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Hamilton Taylor and Blanche Parker Taylor.
Marjorie graduated from Onancock High School and later began working for the Farmer’s Exchange. Upon completing certification courses, she began her career as a telephone operator with C&P Telephone Company and remained dedicated through their transition to AT&T, where she ultimately retired after many years of service. Marjorie was a gifted quilter, having crafted countless works of art that are now treasured by loved ones. Having been raised in a Christian home, she grew up attending services with her family at Broadway Baptist Church and remained close to her faith throughout her life. Majorie adored her family and was grateful for all the joy they brought to her each and every day.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Frederick Michell and his wife, Sharon, of Charlottesville, VA, Teresa Mongeau of Marretta, GA, David C. Michell of Cashville, and Elizabeth M. “Betsy” Wallace and her husband, James Jr., of Belle Haven, VA; brother, Robert “Bob” Taylor of Onancock, VA; grandchildren, Stacey Warham, Josh Michell, Kimberly Johnson, Kelly Poole, and Jenifer W. Ward; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Nathaniel, and Charlotte Austin, Naomi and T.J. Johnson, Gabriel and Adeline Poole, and Bryce, Ava, and Colten Ward; as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Charles “Raymond” Evans and siblings, Barbara Davis, Virginia Killmon, and Harry Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Russell Fail officiating.
