Joseph Isaac Linton, 61, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Parksley, VA. Born September 29, 1962 in Nassawadox, VA, he was a son of the late Norris Hilton Linton, Sr. and Margaret Jean “Peggy” Linton.
Joey had an extensive work history and could do just about anything. Among his many jobs, he worked as a mechanic at Tyson Foods and especially enjoyed his time working alongside his brother, Jamie, as operations manager at Advantage Lawn Care and Landscaping. Though he could be quite stubborn and defiant at times, Joey was a big teddy bear at heart. He had an affinity for wolves and would often share that they were his spirit animal. He enjoyed hunting, loved knives and swords, and looked forward to riding the back roads jamming to southern rock.
He is survived by his brother, Jamie Lee Linton (Mel) of Fox Grove, VA, and their children, Leighann, Kyla, Mackenzie, and Liam; aunt, Sue Linton Newhart (Mark) of Ohio; Amanda Sample, who he loved like a daughter; her daughters, Abigail, Briana, Jazmin, and Kaitlyn, who he called his granddaughters, as well as their father, who he considered a son, Rudy Zavala (Nikki), and their children, Madelyn and Elias; cousins, David Reed, Pete Bonniwell (Missy), Max Marshall (Amy), Elizabeth and Chuck Mapp, Terry Short, Sharron and Michael Rich, Martin Lewis, David Ward (Lori), Carrol W. Annis, Billy Parks, as well as many other cousins and extended family; and special friend, Harry Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Norris H. “Sonny” Linton, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., with Mr. George Fulk officiating. Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
